Personal History
I was born in the 1980s in the Gikindu Village of Kamacharia Location, Mathioya district of the Murang’a County. I am son to Andrew Kiiru Kamau. I did my Primary School at Gikindu Primary school and completed the education under many hardships. I did my secondary school education at Kamacharia Secondary School, a 4 km walking distance. After High School, I did not join a college or university due to lack of fees. I instead went to Nairobi city in search of employment and started doing business in the city. I am married to Lydia Wangari Kanyi and together we have two sons.
Conversion and Spiritual Growth
Being brought up in a religious family, I joined the Roman Catholic Church. During the December holidays after my Primary education, a young man by the name Joshua Chege visited and preached to me one evening. I felt quite challenged and touched by the Love of Christ for us. I accepted Christ as my Lord and savior. I joined a Pentecostal Church in March 2000; the year that followed my conversion. I became a member of the Glory of Christ Centre. I joined the youth ministry and grew up to be a Sunday school teacher. I was a Christian Union Chairman while in Form four during my days as a student at the High School.
Ministry
After my marriage, we started meeting with youths from our mother church who were then working in the capital city (Nairobi) at different places. We would meet in open air places, for instance at the Uhuru Park in Nairobi, at the Nairobi Aboretum and at the City Park. We began with having a fellowship every month since we all lived in different locations around the city and since most of us were young people who had just left school and in search of a better life. We continued meeting monthly for an year. Come 2009, we started meeting twice per month for up to June. We later met in a hotel for 6 months until when we got a hall in 2010 at the Gikomba market where we started evangelizing the community around despite the challenges that we faced.
